CERN

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (formerly: "Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire", thus the name) is one of the top research facilites in the world. The Suisse campus located in Meyrin, Canton of Geneva, Switzerland, is the main and oldest site of what is today a network of sites, combining a number of research institutes, forming the world's largest particle physics laboratory.

Among the many scientific breakthroughs achived under the banner of CERN is the invention of the modern www by Tim Berners-Lee.

What can't be seen on the sat image is the subterranian Large Hadron Collider, a device for high-energy physics research. Interesting is the roundabout on the property to the west, mimicking the shape of the hidden structure.
